lapetitesinge: Unrelated (2007) #so can I just talk about this scene for a second #because it’s FUCKING AMAZING #Oakley and his father are having this horrific fight but we don’t see ANYTHING; it just stays on the others’ reactions outside #and there’s no score because she never uses music; just ambient sound #and there’s just this looooong take and it just lingers and you’re in AGONY because you can hear them screaming at each other and the shot is just so calm so you feel all anxious and helpless #and then someone smashes like one of them hit the other and I jumped out of my skin #and you know—YOU KNOW—the director had Hiddles and the other actor play that scene totally straightforward as if they were on camera BUT THEY’RE NOT and Hiddles is doing like this fucking amazing acting and killing himself to reach that level of emotional honesty AND WE DON’T GET TO SEE IT #IT’S JUST SUCH AN EMOTIONAL COCKBLOCK and we can’t get in because it’s really about this family and we’re not in it just like Anna’s not in it
